Sensitivity Reading

Writing characters and experiences outside your own can be a minefield. Sensitivity reading helps you get it right — not by sanitising your work, but by flagging where representations might inadvertently cause harm, and offering ways to portray them with honesty and care.

What's Included

  • Inline Annotations: Notes throughout your manuscript highlighting moments that land well, moments that need attention, and specific suggestions for improvement.
  • Summary Report: A written overview of recurring patterns, areas of strength, and broader recommendations for the manuscript as a whole.
  • Context & Explanation: Where I flag something, I explain why — so you understand the reasoning, not just the correction.

I can read with particular attention to representations of:

  • Cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Neurodivergence

Pricing

Rates are based on word count:

  • Sensitivity Reading: $0.012 per word
  • Sensitivity Reading + Summary Report: $0.018 per word
