Writing characters and experiences outside yours is worthwhile, but sometimes challenging.

Sensitivity reading helps you get it right, not by sanitising your work, but offering ways to portray experiences with honesty and care.

What's Included

  • Inline Annotations: notes throughout your manuscript highlighting moments that land well, moments that need attention, and suggestions for improvement.
  • Summary Report: a written overview of recurring patterns, areas of strength, and broader recommendations for the manuscript as a whole.
  • Context & Explanation: where I flag something, I explain why, so you understand the reasoning, not just the correction.

Areas of Focus

I can read with particular attention to representations of:

  • Queer identities
  • Mental health experiences
  • Australians
  • Neurodivergence

If your manuscript involves areas outside this list, let's talk, I'll be upfront about whether I'm the right reader.

Pricing

Rates are based on word count:

  • Sensitivity Reading: $0.012 per word
  • Sensitivity Reading + Summary Report: $0.018 per word
